When we visit a church for the first time, there is always a feeling of apprehension. The question, "What can I expect?" looms in our mind. Let us try and set your mind at ease concerning what you might expect when you visit Woodbine Baptist Church by answering some of the questions that you may have in mind.

  1. What sort of people will I encounter?

First of all, you may expect to be greeted by a group of caring Christians. Perhaps you will recognize some faces as a face you have seen behind the counter in a local business, or a face you have seen while shopping for groceries in a local supermarket. Our folks are just ordinary folks who have a desire to study God's Word in a Sunday School class and then worship the Lord in the church service that follows.

  2. How should I dress?

You can expect some of our folks to dress more casually than others. Some of the men will wear a suit and tie while others will wear more casual dress. Some of the ladies will wear a dress while others will wear slacks and a blouse or sweater. God's Word simply tells us to dress in modest apparel (I Timothy 2:9) and that's what we endeavor to do here at WBC.

  3. What Translation of the Bible do you use?

Our folks use different translations of the Word. Some use the NIV or NASB while others love the NKJV. As pastor, I generally read from the KJV and use this translation from the pulpit because more folks seem to bring the KJV than any other translation. Any good translation that is true to the original languages is certainly welcome in our church.

  4. How long do your services last?

While we dare not put time constraints upon the work of Holy Spirit in our hearts, at the same time we realize we live in a world that is governed by the clock. Thus, we strive to respect the personal time commitments that our people must keep. Sunday School begins promptly at 9:45 a.m. and concludes at 10:30 a.m. The Morning Worship Service begins at 10:45 a.m. and generally ends at the noon hour. The Sunday Evening Worship Service begins at 6:00 p.m., and usually ends at 7:10 p.m.

We believe you will feel a relaxed and friendly atmosphere in which to study God's Word and worship Him. Rather than being greeted by a couple of elected greeters, you will likely be welcomed by a host of individual Christians who are genuinely glad that you have chosen to come and worship God with them.
